Minnesota Travel Guide :)

How is it June already?! It's been a whole month since I took finals! Wow! Haha! Anyways, I'm so excited to say that in 14 DAYS I will be reunited with Josh! :) He will get in late on the 15th and I am ecstatic! It has been 24 days without my best friend, the longest we've ever been apart! I know that might not sound like a big deal, but it is when we're used to spending so much time together! The distance truly helps you to appreciate the time you get to spend with the people you love (missing my sister lots too!) The six days he will be here will be the best part of my summer by far! I'm excited to show him around beautiful Minnesota in the summer (he's only been here in the winter...it was 30 degrees when he was here and for those of you not from Minnesota, you should know that 30 degrees is a very warm winter haha!) Just for fun to show you my home state, here are some of the places I plan on taking him to!

CARIBOU COFFEE!
If you've never had caribou, you're missing out. It is thousands of times better than starbucks. It's cozy inside with a cute fireplace and cabin-ish decor, and the people are always so wonderful. It's mostly in the mid-west (it started in Minnesota) but has moved out further to states like Colorado and even Alaska! Transitioning to California, where unfortunately there still aren't any caribou coffee stores (but I think they might be expanding there in the future!!!), is still hard for me! Starbucks never satisfies me quite like caribou, where you also have your choice of dark, milk, or white ghiradelli chocolate in your drink. Yep, it's kinda a big deal ;) So this will be a place we stop multiple times so he can enjoy it while he can!

SAIGON!
Okay, this looks sketchy haha but it's a restaurant my family has been going to together for 10+ years (my step dad has been going for 30+!) in uptown of Minneapolis. It is legit Viatnamese food that I would like to eat on my death bed haha! Everyone there knows what we order, our life stories, etc. haha! I took Josh here last time and he loved it! So we will for sure go at least once! :)

Downtown Excelsior!
Excelsior is a cute town near my home where are there adorable shops, ice cream included haha, right near our version of a "beach." This is where I would come to lay out in the summers and swim in the lake when it got too hot. Lake Minnetonka (which is HUGE) has a docking area right by the beach. It's always busy in Excelsior in the summertime!
Boat central!

Hennepin County Fair!
Every summer, my county has a cute little fair. Now, it doesn't even make it on the radar compared to our state fair (which is a BIG deal...our state fair is one of the biggest in the country every year!) but it is so fun and cute! They have a petting zoo, little rides, food, and a demolishan (I don't even know how to spell that...haha) derby where cars just run into each other. I don't know why that's there but it's entertaining haha! And of course they have cheese curds :)
If you don't know what cheese curds are, your life is not yet complete. Now don't get grossed out yet (curd is a gross word haha). I am not all that into cheese, but being from the midwest, cheese curds are our thing. Ask any person from any of the midwest states and they will tell you you're missing out! It's deep fried goodness that our fairs serve perfectly! I had Josh try them last year at a fast food chain we have that serves them instead of fries, but they aren't quite as good as they are at fairs so I'm happy he'll get the real cheese curd experience!

Lake Calhoun!
As you might know, Minnesota is known as "The Land of 10,000 Lakes." Well, it's actually MORE than that...I know, it's hard to believe! But there are literally lakes everywhere and it's beautiful! Anyways, we have a chain of lakes right near Minneapolis called Lake of the Isles. Lake Calhoun is one of the lakes and it's always busy! People are walking, running, rollerblading, etc. around it alllll the time! It's so pretty! You can even rent kayaks and canoes to take out on it for a good price! So we will definitely hit up this gorgeous lake at least once to be outside!

Chino Latino!
Now, I'm sorry if it sound like all I care about is food haha but there are so many neat places to eat in Minnesota that don't exist elsewhere! Chino Latino is a "hip" place in uptown of Minneapolis that I've been coming to for years (uptown is where the young people hang out haha). Right when you walk in, you feel like a celebrity or at least like you should be in a movie. It's so cool, the lighting, the music, the people, the food! I love it! I will for sure be taking Josh here!

The Target Field!
Apparently all of our big things in the city have to be named after Target (Target is strangely headquartered in Minneapolis! We have the Target center as well, where most big concerts are held) and our fairly new Target Field which is where the Minnesota Twins play. I believe it was built two years ago, but I still haven't had a chance to go! My dad offered to buy tickets for Josh and I to go and baseball is my favorite sport (actually the only sport I can sit through and watch because I played softball for ten years haha) so it will be fun to take him to a game!

Anyways, I'm clearly very excited to have him visit and show him things I didn't get to show him in the winter. I hope you enjoyed my little Minnesota tourist guide haha! Have a fabulous weekend! :)

Love,
K
